Clifford “Big Cat” Starks’s story is an inspiring one. A man who was abandoned by his father, he also fought with his weight. The lack of confidence and weight problems led to him being bullied. After overcoming weight gain and developing some confidence, he would have a fantastic college wrestling career and become a mixed martial arts fighter in the UFC.
Clifford will walk us through his journey - a story about how he believed in himself, found success, and learned to love what makes him different. He will share the truth about bullying and the difference we can produce by showing kindness and acceptance.
Clifford’s story is one of love and violence. It’s his love for people, the violence of the sport he loves, and how both are connected. He found success in wrestling at ASU when introduced to mixed martial arts. Years later, Clifford would tell his coach Trevor Lally of the famed Arizona Combat Sports that he would make it to the UFC within a year. Guess what folks he did.
“I love people! I’ve always loved people, and I can see their energy,” Clifford says.
Now a life coach, Clifford says this has been the type of work that’s always interested me, and now, it’s the work I do. Helping others learn more about themselves, their strengths, and weaknesses are what I think of as the most critical work.
But it’s not the last you’ll hear from Clifford. Next week, he will be back on the podcast to help others through their hero’s journey.
